COVID-19 Code of Conduct
The decision about whether to or not to travel in the next few months is a personal one. We are doing what we can to create additional precautions and procedures, but the risk of exposure to, or contraction of, COVID-19 cannot be eliminated despite best efforts at mitigation.
Choosing outdoor adventure in the nature and wild places affords opportunities to spread out. Sailing, sea kayaking, hiking, and biking in wide open beautiful spaces, far from crowds and off the beaten path, is more resonant than ever. But to safeguard your health, our employees’ health, and others, we do need your help and understanding.
Please join us in following our COVID-19 Code of Conduct: instructions on responsible behavior and safety measures to enjoy your active holiday fully.
What we expect from you
By participating on an AndAdventure trip, you agree to the following Code of Conduct:
Arriving Healthy: Your health has always been a priority on our trips. Moving forward, we’ll be implementing a guest pre-trip screening process based on new standard operating procedures developed among many companies within the outfitting world. It will include a temperature check. Please understand that a reading of 37.8C or higher (>=100 degrees F) will mean we cannot welcome you on the trip.
Use hand-wash / disinfection systems set up and be very aware of general hygiene. Wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer. We’ll make every effort to have hand sanitizer available, but it’s always a good idea to bring your own.
Avoid handshakes and any unnecessary physical contact.
Follow physical distancing guidelines. Keep 1.5 meter / 5 feet distance from your guide and others.
Follow any system a guide sets up at meals or other times designed to protect all trip members’ health.
Wear a facial covering if instructed to do so by AndAdventure staff. It is not optional in the same way that the requirement to wear Personal Flotation Devices is not optional. Bring your preferred face covering, and we’ll supply a few extras on the trip in case you forget. Cloth masks, buffs, etc. are all excellent options. While we don’t anticipate needing to wear these frequently, there will be times when required, such as at an indoor orientation meeting or when using group transport.
Cover your mouth and nose if sneezing or coughing.
Follow the direction from AndAdventure staff if there is a request for a change in behavior relating to the health and safety of all AndAdventure guests and guides.
If you refuse to comply with these rules of conduct, please understand that AndAdventure staff reserves the right to remove you from any trip.
Regarding minimizing any transmission, we have decided to ban using snorkeling gear. Please do bring your equipment (mask & snorkel) if you would like to use it during a sea kayaking or sailing tour.
We hope that following these recommendations will not prevent you from enjoying your holidays and your adventures freely.
What can you expect from us
Screening Employees – each day before work, each employee must pass a temperature screen and general well-being screen. If there is a positive result to any of the screening questions, we will immediately activate the emergency protocol for COVID-19.
Small groups – we mostly cater to private trips, but when running a group tour (like daily sea kayaking), we have reduced the maximum number of participants from 16pax to 10pax, enabling us to spread people out more. We have decided to cancel shared overnight sailing trips on our 450feet catamaran due to COVID-19 related issues.
Guides/Skippers – we provide prepared and trained guides and skippers to know how to respond and follow our protocols in case of COVID-19 situations.
Additional Cleaning & Sanitation: Additional precautions have been implemented to further clean and disinfect all surfaces of the various equipment we use: sea kayaks, bicycles, paddles, helmets, PFDs (personal flotation devices), door handles, vehicles, boats, etc.
Wearing gloves (where it doesn’t interfere with the usage of other equipment to ensure safe activity – like paddles on the sea kayaking tour), masks, and distancing according to current recommendations, will be required of all staff.
Hotels – we have always selected our accommodation partners carefully, and now we are working with them to create further new procedures to protect your health and safety. We ask all our hotel operators to abide by an enhanced safety protocol for cleaning and physical distancing.
Restaurants – we will continue only to include eating experiences on the tour where good hygiene is maintained, and physical distancing can be practiced.
